About the job:
The Red Hat Architecture Validation team is looking for an Security Development Intern interested in reducing the security exposure and risk of our offerings to join us in our Waterfor Offices, Ireland. In this role, you will work with a team of talented Security Engineers that lead and empower Red Hat organizations to achieve security excellence. You’ll work on identifying and developing new secure development practices for our threat modeling methodology.

As an Intern, you will be assigned a mentor for the duration of the internship, they will assist you in anything that you require assistance with. You will have free access to the acclaimed Red Hat University courses and LinkedIn Learning. You will attend all the same training events and presentations as that of a full-time employee, you will be encouraged to share your knowledge and experience as any other team member during talks and knowledge sharing sessions.

This internship will give you the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about Red Hat’s business and the open source culture. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and culturally diverse team in a passionate and fun work environment.

What you will do:
  • Engage with engineering teams to promote security-aware development of Red Hat technologies/solutions.
  • Understand current and emerging threats in the enterprise product space.
  • Collaborate and carry out threat modeling activities, and realistic threat simulations across our offerings.
  • Possibility to contribute to the open-source community.
  • Learn to collaborate and innovate with other engineers in your team.
  • Work both on your own, remotely, and collaboratively with others in your team.
What you will bring:
  • Relevant knowledge in computer science/engineering, being passionate about cybersecurity. For example:
    Participation in Capture the Flag
  • Used threat modeling tools, like the OWASP Threat Dragon
  • Interested in security projects such as OWASP in particular OWASP Top 10
  • Understanding of Information Security Principles - confidentiality, integrity and availability.
  • Understanding of the importance of proactive controls, like
  • Authentication, Authorization and Data Security.
  • Some understanding of configuration management and automation tools, as well as containerization technologies.
  • A basic understanding of Linux operating systems.
  • Good understanding of scripting and programming with languages such as Java, Golang, or Python, and the ability to learn new ones; all are not required.
  • Ability to work, with minimum supervision, in a fast-paced environment with a multicultural team distributed across multiple countries and time zones.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and dedication as a teammate.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills in English.
